Hey everyone!

I’m Anna, a proud brummie who is excited to bring some Pilates magic to south Birmingham.

I am on a mission to get everyone to move their bodies, have fun and feel good. For me, Pilates is the ultimate form of exercise because it’s accessible for everyBODY, whether you’re new to movement or an elite athlete.

I am a Level 3 Pilates matwork instructor, who trained with Polestar, one of the most highly respected training programmes in London. I trained in 2016 and have recently left my other career in publishing to pursue Pilates full time. During my pregnancy with my son Alfie, I appreciated the power of Pilates in a whole different way. Pilates was absolutely invaluable for preparing my body to carry, deliver and then look after two big baby boys.

I felt so strongly about the benefits I’d experienced that I decided to gain my pre and postnatal qualification with Body Control Pilates. Pilates is such a great way to stay active during pregnancy, feel empowered and supported during pregnancy, birth and beyond.

What is Pilates?

Pilates is a total body exercise, developed almost one hundred years ago by Joseph Pilates, to rehabilitate injured WW1 soldiers and later, for strength and conditioning of dancers. It became a favourite exercise option of the elite in New York in the 1960s, but has now become more widely available

The traditional method is low-impact, focusing on flexibility, strength and endurance. The exercises are performed with an emphasis on precision technique; balanced postural alignment; core strength; controlled, flowing movements; and using breath to centre the mind.

Some of the benefits of Pilates include:

  • Improved core strength and stability

  • Increased flexibility

  • Enhanced muscular strength and endurance

  • Better posture and body alignment

  • Reduced risk of injury

  • Stress relief and relaxation

  • Improved body awareness and coordination
